What is CAMP-NY? The
Council for the Advancement of Muslim Professionals of New York is geared to be an
outlet where Muslim Professionals can network & interact in a
casual, fun, yet Islamic environment.
Wednesday, January 16, 2008, CAMP-NY invited all the leftover people who hadn’t seen the movie Kite Runner to check it out together. About 15 people came post work for the meet and greet session in the lobby of the Kips Bay theatres in midtown. It was a pleasure to see new faces at the first social networking event of the year for CAMP-NY.
Having a group of those who had and had not read the book, the movie got mixed reviews from those in attendance. We moved our discussion to Roomali for some late night snacks and tea. The topic changed from the movie to concepts for the next CAMP-NY event with ideas being thrown out from Dave & Busters to volunteering for NY Cares.
Zeba Iqbal of CAMP- National joined the group to give an overview of the upcoming leadership conference, March 29, 2008. We are counting on all of our members to help spread the word about this truly beneficial event details of which can be found at http://www.leadership.campnet.net. With the location being so close in Princeton, NJ, CAMP-NY plans to embrace this conference in attendance and hosting duties.
We are looking forward to many new faces joining the group and a year of social and professional networking as well as community service.
